Training Package on Protection of Environment through Criminal Law

In this section you can download training tools that have been developed by the European Commission as a support to all training structures and trainers with an interest in Protection of Environment through criminal law. They can be used in a European, national or local training context, and be adapted to specific needs and target groups.

What is to be found in the training package on protection of environment through criminal law?

The training package on protection of environment through criminal law training package facilitates the design and development of training workshops with the following objectives:

  • enhancing knowledge on EU policy and legislation on environmental offences (Directive 2008/99/EC) and on environmental liability (Liability Directive)
  • enhancing knowledge on European and International nature protection legislation with particular respect to species protection and main threats
  • learning about the tools and discuss European cooperation in the field of environmental offences
  • understanding the role of national courts as concerns the implementation of European environmental legislation and the preliminary reference mechanism to the CJEU.

It consists of “sessions” (specific training exercise, e.g. case studies,  presentation of Directives, etc.). Materials supporting these sessions are available below and you can download these documents (English version only). What are the conditions for using the training package on protection of environment through criminal law?

The training package on protection of environment through criminal law can be used freely. It is distributed under the Creative Commons License. This means that modules and sessions can be reproduced and integrated in training events as long as the source is acknowledged.
