The European Commission invites providers of circular solutions in the European Union to put themselves forward if they are interested in receiving support in matchmaking and scaling up their solutions from: KPMG, Ecofys, CSR Netherlands and Circle Economy. The circular solution may be any eco-innovative product, process, service, technology, business model, scheme and/or instrument you have either developed and/or implemented and which contributes to resource efficiency and circular economy.
Once the green solutions providers are identified, another call for an expression of interest will be launched to select the SMEs interested in replicating those green solutions.
The training sessions are expected to take place during Q1 of 2018.
What is expected from you if you participate:
Closing date for submission: 18th of September 2017. The European Commission will then select the most suitable applicants.

The European Commission has adopted an ambitious new Circular Economy Package to help European businesses and consumers to make the transition to a stronger and more circular economy where resources are used in a more sustainable way. With this plan to make Europe’s economy cleaner and more competitive, the Commission is delivering ambitious measures to cut resource use, reduce waste and boost sustainable production and consumption.
Since adopting the Circular Economy Package the Commission has observed an increased uptake by corporations to adopt resource efficiency, eco-innovation and/or circular economy strategies and practices.
The Commission observes that SMEs are experiencing more difficulties in adopting such strategies and practices, due to:
With this project the Commission aims to bring assets (e.g. knowledge, networks and tools) via the right support infrastructure, organisations and associations to SMEs so that these enterprises can start to benefit from the advantages of the circular economy, including cost reductions, new/increased revenue streams and improved environmental performance.
What type of support can I expect?
We will organize a two-day matchmaking & scaling-up workshop with the green solution providers and several SME’s to find the interesting business opportunities. Following this workshop, we will keep on assisting participants in their efforts to implement the green solution through newsletters and guidance to online trainings to assist them. Participants are therefore expected to invest the two days for the workshop, and the follow-up activities will be at the participants own will and availability. We envision that the green solution (including commercially sensitive information) remains property of the green solution provider. The EC only wants to provide a platform for green solution providers for large-scale implementation of the solutions at SMEs.
What type of green solutions are eligible for support?
In terms of characteristics of the green solution providers, the selection process is based on the following criteria:
