The programme for Velo-City 2015 Nantes-France is firmly focused on the future with the theme “Cycling: Future Maker”. The conference will showcase the benefits brought to citizens and local governance by cities with good cycling policies and a general recognition of cycling as an efficient mode of urban transport. The event is supported by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) which works to change attitudes, policies and budget allocations related to cycling development.

Nantes was awarded the prestigious title of European Green Capital 2013 by the European Commission. The city has developed a sustainable transport policy with a focus on public transport and bicycles in order to reduce air pollution and CO2 emissions.
