2nd International Conference on Urban Sustainability and Resilience

The 2nd International Conference on Urban Sustainability and Resilience will take place from 3rd – 5th November 2014 at University College London in London, UK. The Centre for Urban Sustainability and Resilience is a multi-disciplinary research and training centre based in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at UCL.

During the two day conference key note speakers will include:

  • Dr. Jean Venables, Chairman of Crane Environmental, Chief Executive of the Association of Drainage Authorities, a Non-Executive Director of HR Wallingford, and Chair of the Customer Challenge Group for Sutton and East Surrey Water Company
  • Dr. Thomas P. Seager, Associate Professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University (Tempe AZ)

As part of the conference the BBC’s Environment Analyst Roger Harrabin, will chair a panel debate entitled Lessons learned from the 2013-14 Winter Floods. The panelists will include:

  • Pat Fitzsimons, Executive Director, The Thames Estuary Partnership (TEP)
  • Dr. Pete Fox, Director of Strategy and Investment for Flood and Coastal Risk Management, The Environment Agency
  • Dr. Liza Griffin, Co-Director, UCL MSc Environment and Sustainable Development Programme

The conference aims to bring together international experts from industry, government and academia across a wide range of science, engineering and social science disciplines.
