Transportation Transformation 2014

12th February 2014, Brussels, Belgium

Transportation Transformation 2014 will take place on 12th February at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event, held in cooperation with MEP Michael Cramer, Speaker of the Greens in the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), will provide an opportunity for a political discussion on the impact of transport on climate gas emissions.

The panel of speakers includes:

  • Prof. Jeff Kenworthy, author of the Millenium Database  (which compares about 100 cities in terms of land use, transport, economy and environment);
  • Prof. John Whitelegg, author of many articles and books about the role of transport for sustainable development; and
  • Dr. Joachim Lohse, Senator for Environment, Urban Development and Transport, City of Bremen (DE).

The EU funded Interreg North Sea project CARE-North-plus (“Low carbon transport strategies for the North Sea Area”), wishes to share some provocative thoughts and start a political debate on mobility and transport of the future. Participation is free of charge however prior registration is necessary.

Sustainable transport is one of the 12 environmental indicators assessed by the European Green Capital Award, as it is widely accepted that a better attitude to transport and more sustainable choices can improve the quality of life in urban areas.
