TEDxFlanders – Naked!

21st September 2013, Antwerp, Belgium

Antwerp is to host a TEDx event on 21st September in Stadsschouwburg. The theme this year will be “Naked”, an introspective look at “what we are now as we bare ourselves against the world and what we will be in the future”.

The speakers confirmed for this exciting event include European Commissioner for Environment, Janez Potočnik, as well as Ianka Fleerackers, Peter De Batist, Hehn Markus, Valery Vermeulen, Richard Gill, Jef Staes, Nathan Shields,Roger Cox, Thomas Delvaulx, Katrin Derboven, Yves Desmet, Marieke Hart and Ritik Mehta. Issues to be addressed at the event include, among others, the following very diverse themes: climate, pancakes, the world of edible insects and the mourning myths. The event will encourage speakers and participants alike to share ideas through wide-ranging, inspired discussion in a visionary and friendly environment.

“TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design; however TED events have now become broader than this, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. TEDx events bring people together to share ideas, spark discussion and connections.

European Green Capital Award

The competition to become European Green Capital 2016 has now been extended until 13.00 CET 31 October 2013. Commissioner Janez Potočnik “would like to invite all eligible cities to apply for the prestigious European Green Capital Award for 2016 and use this as an opportunity to review and show their environmental credentials. All winning cities have benefitted from an increased profile for businesses and investments and enhanced their attractiveness as a destination for people to visit, work and live in.”
