SBE 16 – International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment

The SBE16 conference will take place in HafenCity University, Hamburg, European Green Capital 2011 from 8th to 11th March 2016. The conference will cover a wide range of topics relevant to the future of the sustainable built environment. 08 03 16 SB16 HamburgThe sustainable built environment will be covered on global, regional, building and product levels. The primary focus of the conference is to exhibit innovative concepts for sustainability in the building sector and the sustainable development of new and existing neighbourhoods. Additionally the implementation of principles towards the sustainable development of the real estate sector and the role of the public sector will be examined. A number of discussion points are outlined below:

• Strategies and frameworks for sustainable urban development and construction
• Sustainable neighbourhood and urban development – concepts and cases
• Project development
• Methods and tools for sustainability in the building sector
• Research on material and product innovation
• Professional education: Design for sustainability

Through various developments and the energy efficiency standards set by the host city of Hamburg, discussion of case studies which are realised in close proximity will take place. In addition to the programme, excursions and visits to these best-practice buildings and realised concepts in the metropolitan region will also take place.
