European Green Capital Award

Efforts to improve the environment and increase the share of renewable energy  are key areas that applicant cities are assessed against  when entering the European Green Capital Award competition. The aim of the award is to recognise and reward local efforts to improve the environment, the economy, and the quality of life in urban populations. The City of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark was awarded the title of European Green Capital 2014. The award plays tribute to Copenhagen’s record of consistently high environmental standards and its continued commitment to achieving its green goals.
