2nd – 7th June 2013, Brussels
The 2013 Green Week Conference will take place in Brussels from the 2nd to the 7th of June 2013 under the theme “Cleaner air for all”. The annual event will be held in the Egg Conference Centre in Brussels and will focus on Air Quality.
Despite a step forward in the last decades, several pollution indicators remain at unacceptable level in the EU’s most urban areas. In fact, globally, 70% of greenhouse emissions are generated in these areas. Therefore, throughout 2013, which was declared as the “Year of Air” by the European Commission (EC), the current air policy will be reviewed with the goal of finding ways to improve air quality across the EU.
The Green Week sessions and workshops will bring together international members from government, business and industry, non-governmental organisations, academia and the media. The event will feature high profile international keynote speakers who will offer global insight on the subject area and highlight examples of international best practices. The full agenda of the conference can be accessed here.
During the four days of the Green Week conference, there will be an exhibition running jointly with around 40 stands displaying green business solutions, NGO activities, local and regional authorities, European and international bodies, and so on.
The Commission is willing to add to the Green Week 2013 programme awareness-raising side-events. Therefore, any event taking place across Europe from 1st May 2013 to 30th June focused on the theme of air quality, such as open door days, guided tours, a conference/seminar, a youth event, art initiative or other events are welcome to apply to be promoted and provided a communications toolbox. Extended deadline for these applications is 15th March 2013. For more information have a look click here.
