EWWR Conference and European Awards

22nd May 2014, Rome, Italy

The EWWR Conference will take place on 22nd May 2014 in Rome, Italy. The EWWR Conference and the European Awards are organised by ACR+ on behalf of AICA, the Italian project partner of the European Week for Waste Reduction.

The conference will be divided into two sessions. The first session will focus on European Waste projects, providing participants with the opportunity to discuss and learn from past experiences and challenges. During this session participants will also be able to better come to grips with the results achieved so far by the projects.

The second session will take place in the afternoon and will focus on the importance of communication in making European Week for Waste Reduction an effective event. The conference will be relevant to anyone involved in the EWWR or anyone who wishes to contribute in awareness-raising activities or in waste reduction projects.

A Jury of European experts working in the environmental sector will select the winners of the EWWR 2013. During the award ceremony, the winning actions will be presented as case studies.

Waste production and management is one of the 12 indicators assessed as part of the European Green Capital Award. The winning cities to date include: Stockholm in 2010, Hamburg in 2011, Vitoria-Gastiez in 2012, Nantes in 2013, Copenhagen in 2014 and Bristol in 2015.  All are recognised for their consistent record of achieving high environmental standards and for their commitment to ambitious future targets.
