EUROCITIES Annual Conference on Circular Cities, 15th – 17th November 2017, Ljubljana, Slovenia

EUROCITIES, a network of 135+ major European cities, is hosting its annual conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 15th – 17th November 2017. This year the Conference will focus on the ‘circular economy’, a system that keeps the value of products for as long as possible, preventing waste and reducing the use of scarce resources.

What role do cities play in transitioning towards a circular economy? As demonstrated by the achievements of European Green Capital Award winners, cities are at the forefront of promoting sustainable development. Cities can also lead the way in our transition towards a circular economy by encouraging behavioural change in production and consumption patterns. Ljubljana, European Green Capital Award winner in 2016, provides the perfect setting for this event. Ljubljana was the first European capital to commit to a Zero Waste goal, aiming to reduce its domestic waste to under 60kg per person by 2025.

The Conference will include presentations, round table sessions, and study visits to see Ljubljana’s Zero Waste strategy in action, as detailed in the conference programme.
