EU Green Week: Green Cities for a Greener Future

EU Green Week

EU Green Week is taking place from 21 – 25 May 2018 across Europe. The week of events will begin with the official opening in Utrecht on 21 May, with the main events, including the high-level EU Green Cities Summit, taking place in Brussels from 22-24 May. The week will come to a close at an official ceremony in Madrid on 25 May.

This year’s theme is ‘Green Cities for a Greener Future’; with 70% of Europeans living in urban areas, cities across Europe are faced with the challenge of meeting the needs of their citizens while protecting the environment.

EU Green Week will cover a number of topics to help cities overcome these challenges and transition to a greener future, including: air quality; noise; nature and biodiversity; waste and water management; as well as promoting citizen participation and knowledge sharing.

Look out for the European Green Capital and European Green Leaf Awards Secretariat at the Green Cities Summit in Brussels! We will be more than happy to talk about the awards and answer any queries you may have about the competitions.

For those who cannot make it to Brussels, Utrecht or Madrid, there will also be partner events, such as open days, guided tours, seminars and exhibitions happening in cities throughout Europe.

See you at #EUGreenWeek!
