Energy Cities Annual Conference – Local Leaders for Sustainable Energy
23rd – 25th April 2014 Riga, Latvia
The Energy Cities’ Annual Conference, Local Leaders for Sustainable Energy, will take place on 23rd – 25th April 2014 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Latvia in Riga. The aim of this year’s event is to gather “Local leaders for sustainable energy: bridging people, ideas and regions.”
The conference will include key-note speakers:
- Andris Berzins, President of the Republic of Latvia
- George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol (United Kingdom)
- Samuele Furfari, European Commission, DG ENER
- Eckart Würzner, Mayor of Heidelberg (Germany) President of Energy Cities
The two day conference will provide an opportunity for professionals of various fields and political levels to network and share insights on building, transport, cultural and financial issues. The conference will be co-organised and hosted by the City of Riga, European Capital of Culture 2014.

European Green Capital
The European Green Capital Award was conceived as an initiative to encourage and reward the efforts of cities to improve the environment, and for their high level of commitment to genuine green progress. Energy performance is one of twelve environmental indicators assessed by the Jury in the selection of a city to be awarded the European Green Capital.
