Clean Fleets Workshop – Clean Urban Buses

The Clean Fleets Workshop will take place on 25th- 26th March at the Crystal in London. The workshop will focus on the procurement of clean and energy-efficient vehicles in London and will be hosted by Transport for London (TfL), Clean Fleets’ project partner.
During the workshop participants will discuss:
- London Transport Policy, Planning and Strategies – how these are working towards clean and sustainable transport;
- Procurement of clean buses – covering TfL’s commercial procurement strategy and the experience of other European Member States;
- How pollutants and emissions from road vehicles, especially particulate matter emissions, will need to be reduced further.
The workshop is free of charge and open to public authorities, fleet operators in Europe, and other relevant stakeholders.
The workshop will also incorporate a half-day study visit where participants will have the opportunity to visit the world’s largest exhibition on the future of cities showcasing global trends in sustainable transport solutions.

European Green Capital
The European Green Capital Award has listed local transport as one of twelve environmental indicator areas against which applicant cities are assessed by an Expert Panel. In Stockholm, European Green Capital 2010, transport emissions are relatively low, and all trains and inner city buses run on renewable fuels. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 25% since 1990, and the City Council has set an ambitious target to become entirely independent of fossil fuels by 2050.
