Breakfast at Sustainability’s

The 16th Breakfast at Sustainability’s will take place on 25th November 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. The main topic of this year’s event will be Community energy: accelerating sustainable energy roll-out in Europe. The aim of the breakfast is to address topics of sustainable urban development from a local perspective.

Klaus-Dieter Borchardt, Director of the Internal Energy Market unit, DG Energy, will deliver the keynote address, while Tom Jones, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee, will provide insight into the important role of civil society in energy generation. A number of prominent
figures will discuss challenges and barriers in the ongoing
transition to renewably sourced energy at the local level, among them:

• Kenneth Backard, County Councilor, Norbotten Region, Sweden (tbc)
• Melissa Proietti, Policy Analyst for Energy at the Italian Perm. Representation to the EU (tbc)
• Dörte Fouquet, Director, European Renewable Energy Federation
• François-Xavier Detraz, CORESO, Regional Security Coordination of Transmission system Operators
• Josh Roberts, Environmental Lawyer, Client Earth

This event is hosted by the Common Representation of the Alpeuregio (comprising the regions of Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino).
