Energy is an important aspect of every green city and the work done in conferences like the 4th European Conference Renewable Heating and Cooling paves the way for more European cities to provide a secure, sustainable supply of energy to its citizens. While judging the potential European Green Capital cities, the Jury pays attention to the way in which the city manages its energy supply and the framework it has in place.
The current European Green Capital Nantes has set as a priority the promotion of energy efficiency and as a result has systematically reduced energy consumption and loss in housing, public and commercial buildings in the last few years. The installation of wind and solar electricity-generation facilities are just some of the sustainable solutions under construction.
