100EUrban solutions exhibition
7th – 31st October, Brussels, Belgium
Place Jean Rey in Brussels is currently hosting the “100 EUrban solutions for better cities” exhibition until the 31st October with the aim of promoting many projects in European towns and cities which have been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This fund allocated by the European Union seeks to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions.
More than two thirds of Europeans lives in an urban environment; these are the places where solutions to many problems are found. In areas such as competitiveness, employment, education, social inclusion, transport, the environment and innovation, the progress achieved in cities provide solutions to improve citizens’ daily life.
“100 EUrban solutions for better cities” exhibition will showcase co-funded projects from across Europe in which companies have created sustainable jobs; infrastructures have been developed and linked to research and innovation, telecommunications, environment, energy and transport; as well as initiatives fostering cooperation between towns and regions.
This exhibition links perfectly with the European Green Capital Award’s aims of promoting and rewarding cities which are making efforts to improve the urban environment and move towards healthier and sustainable living areas. Progress is its own reward, but the satisfaction involved in winning a prestigious European award encourages cities to invest in further efforts and boosts awareness within the city as well as in other cities. The award enables cities to inspire each other and share examples of good practices at home.
