Vitoria-Gasteiz Celebrates being the 2012 European Green Capital

To mark the official transfer of power from Hamburg to Vitoria-Gasteiz, to be held on December 15 in Brussels, the capital of Alava live a weekend of “green” celebrations. From Thursday until Saturday, Vitoria-Gasteiz will host several events that will serve to welcome the public to the title of Green Capital.
On Thursday, December 15th, a convey of cyclists, who will start from different points of the city in order to “turn on” the green city, culminating in the lighting of a neon sign lit by the energy generated from the cyclists.
The finale of this event will be a spectacle of light, color and sound never before seen in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The City Hall will be transformed into a giant screen on which represent a succession of scenes that make up a whole symphony of colors, shapes and sounds that fascinate the public and serve to translate the principles of Green Capital.
