Green Cities Fit for Life

On the 15th of December Vitoria-Gasteiz will play host to the Green Night to celebrate the closing of its year as the 2012 European Green Capital.

There will be lots of entertainment and more than 40 acts will take place over the course of the event which is celebrating the importance of education in sustainability, including green workshops and documentaries, green kids’ zone, diverse concerts, exhibitions, plays, fireworks inspired in the Green Capital, green inspired cuisine and live music until midnight.

The city has also made an effort to reduce the cost of the event, not only financially, but in regard to the reduction of carbon emissions, waste and energy expenditure.

Vitoria-Gasteiz was chosen as the European Green Capital 2012 not only for its environmental success but also for its ability to be a role model for other cities and to inspire all of Europe to strengthen existing policies, find new solutions to challenges, reduce negative impact on the environment and become resilient to climate change.
