EU Sustainable Energy Week 2012

18-22 June 2012, Brussels, Belgium

EU Sustainable Energy Week showcases activities dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. It is designed to spread best practices, inspire new ideas and build alliances to help meet the EU’s energy and climate goals. The aim is to form a bigger picture out of multiple individual efforts to motivate change through a varied programme of events.

Between 18 and 22 June 2012, Brussels will be host to a packed programme of high-level debates, conferences and exhibitions. Organised by the European Commission and other bodies, the 3-day policy conference starting on 19 June will bring together industry representatives, scientists and decision-makers and offer an ideal networking opportunity. You can get involved by organising or attending an event. Event registration is open now.

Simultaneously, throughout Europe, schools, associations, companies, public authorities and many more hold their own Energy Days.

Last year, 720 events took place in 43 countries during EU Sustainable Energy Week, which was launched in 2005 and is the key event of the Sustainable Energy Europe campaign.

One highlight of the week is the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards ceremony, a glittering event in Brussels which recognises the best and brightest projects of the past year. The 2011 ceremony presented awards to six projects out of more than 300 that entered the competition.

Energy consumption is one of the 12 key environmental indicators that those applying for the European Green Capital Award are assessed on. For more information on this click here
