European Green Capital Award Workshop

29th August, Brussels

On the 29th of August, the European Green Capital Award is hosting a workshop for applicant cities in Brussels. Here representatives from hopeful cities can learn more about the award and what their city can do to become the next Green Capital. The European Green Capital Award was conceived as a method of sharing ideas, experiences and best practices in sustainability and environmental protection through friendly competition between European Cities. A jury of experts judges each applicant city using twelve indicators which cover a range of modern issues including waste, water, energy and transport.

A European Green Capital should be a city that is fit for life. The winning cities are chosen not only for their environmental success but also for their ability to be a role model for other cities and inspire all of Europe to strengthen existing policies, find new solutions to challenges, reduce negative impact on the environment and become resilient to climate change.

The European Green Capital Workshop will give the opportunity for participating cities to discuss their challenges, exchange ideas and build a network of support. They will also learn about the benefits of winning the award including increased tourism and social benefits.

Interested parties are requested to contact the Secretariat as soon as possible to secure their place.

Please note places are limited due to room capacity and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
