Bristol welcomes people from all over the world to participate in the BIG Green Week 2013. The city is hosting an eco ideas, art and entertainment festival from the 15th to the 23rd of June. This event encourages participants to learn about sustainability through fun and challenging activities that will entertain the whole family. Bristol’s BIG Green Week 2013 is full of several interesting activities

Bristol’s 2013 BIG Green Week will gather loads of guests, including TV presenters, scientist Alice Roberts, architect George Clarke, festival chair Jonathon Porritt and comedian Tony Hawks. The writer Tony Juniper will also attend the event to talk about his new book ‘What has Nature ever done for us?’. Green faces have also been invited, such as the executive director of Greenpeace UK John Sauven or the editor of Resurgence and Ecologist magazine Satish Kumar.

BGW3Apart from all these activities running in June, the city of Bristol, in collaboration with DoNation, has a BIG commitment for BIG Green Week 2013. Bristol is measuring CO2 savings and wants to save 10,000kg of CO2 before the festival even starts next June. People are making public their own pledges to collaborate with the goal. From car-pooling to resolving to use a bike for one year, every kg of CO2 counts to achieve the objective. Do not hesitate to make your contribution here.

Bristol, shortlisted to be the European Green Capital 2015

BGW 4Bristol is one of the four shortlisted cities to become the 2015 European Green Capital. Each city will be assessed by the European Green Capital Jury on the basis of 12 indicators.

The winner will be announced in June 2013 in the 2013 European Green Capital Nantes.
