Stockholm in Brussels for Green Week 2010

14 June 2010

Current European Green Capital, Stockholm, participated in this year’s Green Week in Brussels, the biggest annual conference devoted to European environment policy.

The City of Stockholm was well represented at the 2010 Green Week, held in Brussels on 1-4 June, in order to exchange experiences and good practices, and participate in discussions and debates with European and international experts.

This year’s Green Week focused on the issue of biodiversity. “Urban nature is vital for Stockholm, and we were happy to exchange examples from our work on biodiversity with the many visitors at our exhibition stand in Brussels,” explains Linda Persson, Project Manager for the first European Green Capital.

Great Experience

For Stockholm, Green Week presented an opportunity to share the City’s experiences as European Green Capital, and to address the state of biodiversity and nature in Europe and the world.

“The demand for exchanging best practices and inspiration on urban sustainability was clearly demonstrated during Green Week, and the City of Stockholm is doing its utmost to act as a role model and share our experiences in this field,” says Linda Persson.

Registration Open for Green Capital Conference

Sharing of experience is also a key element in the European Green Capital Conference which takes place in Stockholm from 20 to 22 October and offers a unique opportunity for participants to form networks and exchange ideas.

The conference also features the European Green Capital Award Ceremony presenting the European Green Capitals for 2012 and 2013.

Detailed information on additional events relating to the European Green Capital title to be held in Stockholm can be found via the City of Stockholm’s 2010 European Green Capital calendar, available on the City’s website.
