Ljubljana wins European Green Capital Award 2016

Ljubljana has today been named European Green Capital 2016.

The announcement was made at the Award Ceremony hosted by the current European Green Capital, Copenhagen earlier today. Mayor Zoran Jankovic accepted the Award on behalf of Ljubljana from Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik.

Ljubljana was shortlisted alongside – Essen, Nijmegen, Oslo and Umeå. Each city was shortlisted for the award in its own unique way and the Jury had a tough challenge in selecting an overall winner from such a high standard of applicants.
