Eligible cities who want to apply for the European Green Capital award must fill in the online application form as explained below and forward a declaration signed by the city mayor.

Log in
To access the application form you must register as a new user. Fill in the basic data about your city and your personal contact information. You will receive en e-mail confirming your user name and password. 

Information about indicator areas
In the application form, the indicator areas are listed on the left-hand side of the screen. For each indicator area, a number of questions need to be answered by filling in the white fields. An explanatory note has been prepared which provides further guidance on indicator areas.

You may attach files such as graphs, maps, photos etc., but these attachments should serve as supplementary information, only.

Completing the application form in steps
The entire application form does not need to be completed at once. Choose "save and log out" to quit and return to the form at a later time using the user name and password which you received by e-mail at your first login.

Submit the application form
When you have finished completing the form, go to the last page (13) and press "submit".  Your application will then be sent to the Green Capital Secretariat, and you will receive confirmation by e-mail.

Mayor's declaration
The important last step is to forward - by the deadline for application - a declaration signed by your city mayor confirming your application for the award.
