3-6 June 2008
Green Week – the biggest annual conference devoted to European environment policy – takes place this week in Brussels. Under the slogan “Only One Earth – Don’t waste it!” Green Week 2008 focuses on the need for Europe and the rest of the world to make its use of resources more sustainable.
Together with the Green Week sessions and workshops, there is an exhibition with 64 stands displaying projects and best practice of non-governmental organisations, businesses, various levels of government and the public. And one stand presents the European Green Capital Award.
Many participants visited the stand on the opening day, and the Green Capital Secretariat was busy explaining and answering questions about the new award. A very prominent guest was Commissioner Dimas. He paid a visit immediately after his opening speech in which he urged thousands of participants to work together for a sustainable Europe.
