7th June 2012, Amsterdam
The sixth edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit will take place on the 7th and 8th of June in Amsterdam. This event is part of a series of international summits that focuses on the sustainability of the food industry. This summit will have four dedicated forums discussing:
The food industry is a global multi-billion dollar industry and so achieving sustainability would have a large impact on the world. The Summit looks at the future of eco-labels and how they can better meet consumer needs. Sustainably produced ingredients, reduction of waste, and effective marketing are all key steps to achieve a sustainable industry. However this industry is also facing threats from foods posing as eco-label, fair trade or organic foods. This could damage consumer faith in authentic products and hinder their widespread adaption.
The Sustainable Foods Summit will be a carbon neutral event with any carbon and greenhouse gas emissions being offset by investing in soil composting projects. It will be attended by leading organisatons involved in sustainability and eco-labels in the food industry.
