14thJune 2013 is the date selected to host the European Green Capital 2015 Award Ceremony. At the ceremony, one of the four shortlisted cities – Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana- will be crowned the 2015 European Green Capital. It will take place at La Fabrique on île de Nantes, in Nantes (France), the European Green Capital for this year. Noteworthy guests attending the event will include Janez Potočnik, the European Commissioner for the Environment and Gilles Retière, President of Nantes Metropole.
The day, which will culminate in the award ceremony, will kick off in the morning with a workshop held at the Nantes Metropole Exhibitions Centre. Key topics up for discussion will be ‘How does the award promote sustainable development on the whole territory?’ and ‘How to benefit from the European Green Capital label?’. The event will play host to representatives from Nantes, the current European Green Capital; from the past winners, Hamburg, Stockholm and Vitoria-Gasteiz; as well as from next years’ European Green Capital Copenhagen. The workshop will also involve a round table discussion with representatives from Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana, the four shortlisted cities for the 2015 competition title.
After the workshop, guests will be shown around the European Green Capital 2013, Nantes, by guided tour and a visit to the “Marine Worlds Carousel”.
