2019 Applicant Workshop

The Applicant Workshop for the 2019 competition cycle was held on Friday 1st July 2016 in Brussels.

The day provided potential applicants with an overview of the competition process, the do’s and dont’s of applying, advice from previous applicants, winners and past experts. It will also be an opportunity to network with other environmental front runners from across Europe.

2. Benefits of being a Winning City

Paul Davies, Head of Bristol’s Brussels Office, Bristol City Council spoke about the benefits the award brought the city of Bristol, European Green Capital 2015. Presentation available here.

3. How to impress the Expert Panel

Mr. Jan Dictus is the expert for indicator 12 Integrated Environmental Management. Jan shared his tips and advice on what makes a quality application and what impresses the expert evaluation panel. To view this presentation please click here.

4. Key elements for winning bid to become the 2018 EGC

Nijmegen has been awarded the 2018 European Green Capital title. Ton Verhoeven, City of Nijmegen, shared Nijmegen’s experiences in applying and detailed key elements of their bid they believe were crucial to winning. To view this presentation please click here.

5. Building a European Green Capital Programme

Ljubljana currently holds the title of European Green Capital for 2016. Simona Berdon, city administration of Ljubljana, discussed the experience of the City of Ljubljana in applying for the award, how their EGC programme has been developed and how winning the award has benefited Ljubljana. 6. Sharing Good Practices across Europe
