EU Environmental Technology Verification

Environmental technologies (1) have a role to play in addressing environmental challenges and, at the same time, can contribute positively to EU competitiveness and growth. But sometimes even the best ideas have trouble breaking into the market and accessing potential users. Purchasers tend to opt for established technologies with a track record of performing according to specifications. A lack of reliable information on new and potentially excellent technologies, including a fair assessment of their risks and benefits, discourages both investors and customers.

The EU Environmental Technologies Verification (ETV) pilot programme – involving participants on a voluntary basis – will generate independent and credible information on new environmental technologies, by verifying the performance claims put forward by technology vendors.

new The Commission Staff Working Paper on the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) initiative 'Helping Eco-Innovations to reach the Market' is now available after adoption of the Eco-Innovation Action Plan to which it is linked. Please see it on the ETV pilot programme page together with other useful documents on the ETV pilot programme.
