Innovation is the driving force of Europe. But often new inventions or technologies—even if they promise to significantly benefit the environment—never reach it to market simply because they are new, untried or their reliability is unproven.

ETV aims to change this and bring innovative environmental technologies to the market by providing verified evidence that they are credible, scientifically sound and that they perform as claimed. The end product is an ETV Statement of Verification that proves the performance of a new technology and differentiates it from that of its competitors.

The EU ETV pilot programme has been running since December 2012 in three technology areas: water treatment and monitoring; energy; and materials, waste and resources. Technologies verified or under verification by ETV will be presented at the Forum where the first Statements of Verification will be handed out to technology developers.

ETV Stakeholder Forums aim to gather companies and experts developing, using or investing in innovative environmental technologies who are interested in discussing how to provide credible proof of performance through verification, the best way to plan and use ETV in their decisions, and the difference it makes on European or international markets.

After the first ETV Stakeholder Forum, in Brussels in December 2012, this second edition will provide an opportunity to hear about the first results of the pilot programme and to present ETV to a wider audience through joint events with the European Forum on Eco-innovation and the EMAS Awards. The Forum will also benefit by sharing a venue with one of the world’s leading industrial trade fairs (Hannover Messe), with exhibition halls dedicated to IndustrialGreenTec and Metropolitan Solutions for the 2014 edition.

If you would like to meet the Verification Bodies operated under ETV and the team of the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) that is coordinating the Technical Working groups, then come and participate in the Brokerage Event that will take place within the Stakeholder Forum. From 15:45 onwards you will be able to schedule meetings with different Verification Bodies and find out the answers to all the questions you have on ETV and how they can help you.

The event will be organised into several bilateral meetings (approx. 15 min) with the Verification Bodies and the team from the Joint Research Centre. For more information on the Brokerage Event have a look here. To register your interest send an e-mail to mentioning which Verification Bodies you would like to meet.

Please note that in order to attend the Brokerage Event you should register for the ETV Stakeholder Forum or at least for the 16th European Forum on Eco-Innovation or for the EMAS meetings.

The ETV handing-out of the Statements of Verification which was scheduled on 8 April 2014 from 16:30 to 16:45 in the IndustrialGreenTec Hall is cancelled.

More information on ETV can be found on the ETV website.
