Communication & logo

The Eco-innovation initiative has its own visual identity designed to raise its profile and give it a strong and identifiable image. Used correctly, it will boost the initiative's profile and cement its presence in the EU. It is therefore vital that everyone involved in the initiative abides by these rules to make the Eco-innovation initiative more widely known.

The logo

The visual identity has been designed primarily for use by those managing and promoting the programme. The Eco-innovation logo should be used by the project beneficiaries on all their marketing and communication support products and activities. The rules governing its use are set out in the guidelines. Download Guidelines pdf - 5 MB [5 MB]

Projects receiving funding from CIP Eco-innovation initiative should use the Eco-innovation logo on all their communication tools with the quote "Supported by" along with the following disclaimer:
"The information provided for in the present ... does not necessarily reflect the official position of the EACI, the European Commission or other European institution"

Beneficiaries of the CIP Eco-innovation initiative should also add the following disclaimer on their project's website along with links to the Eco-innovation and CIP websites:
"This project is co-funded by the European Union within the CIP Eco-Innovation initiative of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP)."

Communication obligations

All eco-innovation funded projects have to undertake a variety of communication/dissemination activities. This is a contractual obligation. The obligations are listed in the last work package in Annex I of the Grant agreement. There are six mandatory activities:

Projects should also consider investing in additional communication tools or activities such as posters, brochures or open days.

Guidelines for communication tools

DG Environment has produced a series of guides that can be used by project managers to help them carry out their communication activities. These tools have been designed for LIFE+ but can be used for eco-innovation projects. The guidelines for a layman report, press release, communication event and event organisation may be particularly useful.
