Period of consultation

                        From 24.09.2014  to 17.12.2014

Objective of the consultation

EU Directive 2000/53/EC on end-life-vehicles ("ELV" Directive hereafter referred to as "the Directive") bans the use of certain substances in vehicles. The Directive is updated according to scientific and technical progress. To date, Annex II to the Directive has been adapted six times (in 2002, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013) and a seventh adaptation is underway concerning exemptions reviewed in 2013-2014.
According to Annex II, exemptions 2(c), 3 and 5 need to be reviewed during 2015.
The Commission needs clear technical and scientific evidence and an assessment thereof, to decide if to renew or revoke one or more of the exemptions under assessment, taking into consideration the expiry dates of the exemptions to be reviewed.
