REACH Background: Stakeholder Consultation
REACH has been developed in a climate of
transparency and consultation. The Commission has held extensive
dialogue with stakeholders before and after the proposal was
presented.

An Internet Consultation on workability aspects of
a draft proposal took place between May - July 2003.
A Stakeholder
Conference on the Business Impact of the New Chemicals Policy,
opened by Commissioners Liikanen (Speech)
and Wallström (Speech), was
held in Brussels on 21 May 2002.
To assist the Commission in its development
of legislation to implement the White Paper proposals, a number
of technical expert working groups were convened from October
2001 to February 2002.
A Stakeholders' Conference on the Commission’s
White Paper on the Strategy for a future Chemicals Policy
was held in
Brussels
on 2 April 2001.
