EU Mercury Strategy

In January 2005, the European Commission presented its Community Mercury Strategy, a comprehensive plan addressing mercury pollution regionally, as well as globally. In the Strategy, the European Commission proposes further restrictions in the use of mercury, and an export ban for mercury from the EU. An important feature of the Strategy is support for and promotion of international actions, one element of which is to be reduction of global mercury supply, trade and demand.
