Soils at Rio+20

The Environment Directorate-General of the European Commission, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization and the secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, will organise two specific events dedicated to land and soil at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) that will take place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 12 until 22 June 2012.

The first will take place on Sunday 17 June (World Day Desertification Day) in the Rio Conventions Pavilion in Athletes’ Park from 11:00 until 19:30 and will be dedicated to Securing Healthy Soils and Stopping Land Degradation: Outcomes for Rio+20. The second will take place on Wednesday 20 June in the RioCentro Conference Centre from 19:00 until 20:30 and will be dedicated to Goals for Healthy Soils and the Role of the Global Soil Partnership. The draft programme is here.
