SWITCH-Med Programme

SWITCH-Med Action Network facilitates the shift toward Sustainable Consumption and Production - SCP - in the Southern Mediterranean Region. The programme is about changing the way goods and services are produced and consumed, so that human development and satisfaction of human needs is decoupled from environmental degradation. It will support industry, emerging green entrepreneurs, civil society and policy makers through policy development, demonstration activities and networking. SWITCH-Med will be implemented through collaborative efforts by the EU, UNIDO, UNEP/MAP-SCP/RAC and UNEP-DTIE.

ACR+

The Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and sustainable Resource management (ACR+) is an international network of members who share the aim of promoting smart resource consumption and sustainable waste management through prevention at source, reuse and recycling. Originally a European network, it has recently been expanded to the Mediterranean area (ACR+MED).

European Green Capital Secretariat

The European Green Capital award rewards cities for exemplary environmental practices and encompasses 12 environmental indicators related to urban living and quality of life. A number of these indicators centre of the theme of circular economy, resource efficiency and waste i.e. Waste production and management, Eco-innovation and sustainable development and Integrated Environmental Management.

ReNEW

ReNEW, funded through the Interreg IVB North West Europe scheme, aims to develop and support innovation along the waste supply chain. It promotes recovery of valuable materials from waste and supports development of the circular economy. ReNEW will engage stakeholders to capture the needs of the waste industry and the emerging resource/ circular economy.

ZEPHYR

Zephyr introduces an innovative technology for pre-cultivation of forest regeneration materials in a zero-impact and cost friendly production unit, not affected by outdoor climate, with LED lights providing an optimal spectrum and the growth parameters are monitored by a new family of wireless sensors. The energy is provided by solar panels.

Fundación CARTIF & Fundación Patrimonio Natural

Fundación CARTIF is a leading Spanish Applied Research Centre. Nowadays CARTIF is formed up by 200 researchers, revenue exceeding €10 million and a client portfolio comprising 120 enterprises and institutions. The center has facilities of 16,500 m2 (distributed in three buildings).
Fundacion Patrimonio Natural is a public body linked to Castilla y León Regional Ministry for Public Works and Environment. The entity manages more than 30 centers for sustainability, nature and environmental education in the region, and the regional Network for ecoinnovation and R+D sustainability.

ManagEnergy
Launched in 2002, ManagEnergy aims to assist actors from the public sector, and their advisers, working on energy efficiency and renewable energy actions at the local and regional levels.
