Dr Diane Mitchell

Chief Environment Adviser at National Farmers Union

Diane Mitchell graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc in Soil Science and then with a PhD looking at nitrogen and phosphorus cycling in a mature Scots pine stand following the application of sewage sludge.

Following this, she worked as a researcher at Cambridge University Farm, on potato agronomy.  In 1999, she joined the NFU at its headquarters in London, in the environment team focusing on soil and waste policy.  In 2005, Diane became the team leader of the NFU’s environment team, with an overview across team, which deals with a range of issues from agri-environment schemes to water and water policy, as well as specialising in air quality policy.  Diane lives in Stratford-upon-Avon.
