2.3 Dirty dealings: land, soil, and the Water Framework Directive
23 May - 11.30 - 13.00
Healthy soil and good land management can boost water absorption, minimise the most negative consequences of heavy rain, and provide moisture to plants in a changing climate. This session will highlight the numerous functions performed by the living components of our soil, soil organic matter and soil biodiversity, including filtering rain water and replenishing groundwater. The session will offer an opportunity for discussing the role that better resource efficiency in a land context can offer to achieve the targets set by the Water Framework Directive.
