Claudia Baranzelli

Claudia Baranzelli is researcher at the Joint Research Centre – Institute for Environment and Sustainability. Her main tasks entail  the development/application of spatial analysis tools for the investigation of land use dynamics and the definition/preparation of evolution scenarios of European areas.

She graduated in Environmental Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano, with a specialisation in Planning and Management of Natural Resources. Subsequently, she obtained a PhD in Urban, Regional and Environmental Planning. Working as researcher and collaborating in teaching activities at the Politecnico di Milano, she developed her main research interests in the fields of environmental modelling, sustainability integrated assessment models applied to urban and regional contexts,  GIS systems, valuation of goods.

Her professional experience includes advisory activity for IRER - Regione Lombardia (research fields: monitoring and management of land uses and land consumption, monitoring and assessment of local planning practices) and for Local Authorities in urban planning (sustainability integrated assessment models, GIS systems, data analysis).
