National Emission Ceilings Review

The Commission has launched a service contract in order to prepare the review of the National Emission Ceiling Directive and to evaluate the national programmes of 2002. The main objectives of the assignment are to provide support to the Commission in the review of the NEC Directive and to analyze in depth some aspects of its implementation. The three main elements of this support consist in:

Gathering and summarizing all relevant data and information from various sources including studies and contracts launched by the Commission, EEA reports and ongoing projects, national/local programs and other relevant sources of information;
Analyzing some specific aspects of the implementation of the NEC directive;
Proposing recommendations for the future Thematic Strategy on air pollution in order to improve the effectiveness of the directive.
