Access to Information
The Commission with its contractor, ARCADIS Belgium, ECNC and Leuven University, organised a stakeholder workshop on the topic of the interaction between the Birds and Habitats Directives and provisions on active dissemination of information found in the Access to Information Directive, 2003/4/EC, and on the management of spatial information found in the INSPIRE Directive, 2007/2/EC on 24 October 2014, in Brussels.
Access to justice
The Commission organised on the 24th and 27th November 2014 two expert group meetings, one with the Member State judges and the other with Member State authorities to discuss the topic of access to justice in environmental matters and possible options for a new initiative on access to justice in environmental matters.
The Commission organised on the 11th and 15th October 2013 two expert group meetings, one with the Member State judges and the other with Member State authorities to discuss the topic of access to justice in environmental matters and possible options for future initiatives.
The Commission organised on the 26th November 2012 an expert group meeting with Member States judges to discuss the recently prepared studies and fact sheets on the topic of access to justice in environmental matters.
The Association of the Councils of State and Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions of the European Union and the European Commission has jointly organised a Seminar in Brussels on 23 November 2012 on the topic of "Access to justice and organisation of jurisdictions in environmental litigation: national specificities and influences of European Union law". A number of national reports and a synthesis report were prepared that are also available on the site. Commissioner Janez Potočnik addressed the audience by delivering a speech on the topic.
The Commission organised on 12th November 2012 an expert group meeting with Member States government experts to discuss the recently prepared studies and fact sheets on the topic of access to justice in environmental matters.
Conference took place on "Implementation of EU Environment law - how we can do better" on 15 June 2011, Brussels
Session took place in the framework of Green Week "Can Ombudsmen better oversee administrative actions - and inactions - that impact on the environment of present and future generations?" on Wednesday 25 May 2011 in Brussels. Programme and main topics discussed.
