Amendment of the Act of 7 May 1999 to provide a legislative framework for media games, betting and Internet gaming.
9. Brief Statement of Grounds
The aim of the legislative amendment is to extend the licensing system to most of the operators of games of chance and to pursue a consistent policy with respect to most operators. With respect to Internet gambling and betting, the idea is to ensure that Internet games are subject to the same framework as that imposed on actual games. The objective is to place Internet gambling and betting on the same basis as actual games.
The Gambling Commission would be responsible for casinos, automatic gaming halls, bingo in cafés, employees of gaming halls and casinos, gaming ushers, betting, Internet gaming and other media games. Only the National Lottery would remain outside its jurisdiction.
