Creating local associations and institutions

Such bodies coordinate stakeholders’ activities and contribute to developing tourism in a coherent way.

Examples of implementation

Durbuy (Belgium - 2007)

A number of initiatives aim at involving all possible actors in the development of a coherent tourist offer. The most relevant one is a process, launched in 2004, aimed at developing tourism in a participation-oriented way. Other such initiatives are the municipality rural development programme and the creation of a non-profit organisation coordinating the actors involved in the Ourthe river sub-region.

Clonakilty district (Ireland – 2007)

The District Chamber of Tourism brings together representatives from all sectors of the community.
