For a competitive food supply chain in Europe
The conference "For a competitive food supply chain in Europe" took place at a moment when the competitiveness of the food industry was at stake. It was the moment when two very important initiatives were brought together, namely the High Level Group on the Competitiveness of the Agro-Food Industry (HLG) which has been replaced by High Level Forum for a Better Functioning Food Supply Chain. In this way, the European Commission will ensure a smooth implementation of the Roadmap of Key Initiatives of the HLG and of the initiatives announced in the Commission Communication A better functioning food supply chain in Europe (Com (2009) 591), in coordination with all the actors in the food supply chain.
The conference brought together policymakers and stakeholders from the food supply chain and focused on the possibilities to tackle better the challenges of the food industry. Furthermore the conference provided an overview of the impact of the EU policies on the food supply chain and of the importance of innovation in the food industry
