REACH testing - Trial runs
Within the framework of its Interim Strategy for the practical preparations for REACH, the European Commission proposed strategic partnerships with industry to run trials of REACH before its entry into force. The aim is to test how the REACH mechanisms would work in practice and ensure that potential workability issues are identified and can be addressed timely. The Commission invited all stakeholders, in particular industry, to elaborate proposals for such partnerships between itself, the Member States and industry.
The objectives of strategic partnerships are to build practical experience among stakeholders, identify the need for development of guidance, as well as to test and establish the workability of the REACH proposal, or to propose solutions if workability problems are encountered. The findings from the strategic partnerships are to be communicated to all interested parties.
