European strategy on clean and energy efficient vehicles - Communication

This Communication sets out a strategy for encouraging the development and uptake of clean and energy efficient ("green") heavy- (buses and trucks) and light-duty vehicles (cars and vans) as well as two- and three-wheelers and quadricycles.

The aim of this strategy is to encourage the development and eventual widespread use of clean and energy efficient vehicles and to help the European car industry to strengthen its leading role globally basing its production on clean and energy-efficient technologies.

The strategy contributes to the Europe 2020 objectives of smart and sustainable growth. It contains an Action Plan composed of over 40 concrete and ambitious measures to be implemented by the Commission.
