Workshop 5 - The Public Authority perspectives on the disclosure of environmental, social and governance information

The workshop examined a number of different government initiatives to promote disclosure of environmental, social and governance information by companies.
These include :
- the French 2001 Loi sur les Nouvelle Régulations Economiques, which requires publicly-listed companies to report against a set list of social and sustainability issues.
- The Dutch government’s “Transparency Benchmark”, which publicly compares and rates the transparency performance of participating companies
- the Danish law which requires large companies to state whether or not they a policy on corporate social responsibility, and if so to explain how it has been implemented and what it has achieved.
The workshop also examined the ESG information requirements of public authorities in their role as buyers, as owners of companies, and as provides of subsidies and financial support.
