GMES emergency response
The emergency response dimension of GMES covers emergency response support inside and outside Europe by means of "The GMES Emergency Response Core Service" (ERCS).
The development of ERCS is supported by the SAFER 
Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) research project that builds upon the foundations established through the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) and European Space Agency (ESA) initiatives, in particular the projects PREVIEW and Risk-EOS for needs inside Europe as well as RESPOND for humanitarian support.

It should also be noted that a separate call for tender has been published concerning support for the implementation of an operational GMES service in the field of emergency management.
