Best practices, Pilot projects and results
In the years 1996 to 2000, the Enterprise DG's unit responsible for crafts and small businesses co-financed a number of pilot-projects, which aimed to address specific problems and obstacles facing the micro-, small and crafts enterprises. A summary of most of these projects has been published in the beginning of 2000 in the brochure pictured below.

In the years 1999-2000, a specific scheme SCREEN was also developed with the help of the EICs to address the needs of the smallest companies accessing new information technologies and the Internet. SCREEN focused on businesses that were real beginners in the new communication technologies.

Four projects SCREEN [23 KB]
All the pilot projects in favour of small and crafts enterprises financed under the 2nd multiannual programme for SMEs (1993-1996) were evaluated in 1999 one year at least after completion.
